Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris Alice Wells Curry Reedy Of Davin Doris Alice Wells Curry Reedy, 90, of Davin, entered into Heaven on Saturday, January 23, 2022, after fighting her battle on Earth. She was born on June 17, 1931, at Davin, the daughter of the late Sam and Lura (Brown) Wells. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Lewis E. Curry and her second husband, Rev. Ralph D. Reedy; her daughter, Diana Lynn Weese; two brothers, Charles Wells and James Samuel Wells, Jr.; and six sisters, Edra Atkins, Louise Asbury, Ruth Frye, Ada Lee Thompson, Judy Toler, and Violet Knight. Doris worked at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital in the operating room as a scrub tech and pursued her goal of graduating college before entering into full time ministry. During the years of her marriages to Rev. Lewis E. Curry who departed this life in 1979 and to Rev. Ralph D. Reedy who departed this life in 2018, ministry was her focal point. She was a loving pastor’s wife, lay speaker, and ladies’ auxiliary President in the United Methodist Church. Doris’ most loved attribute in this life was her family. It didn’t have to be a special occasion for her to have you at her home. She was an immaculate home maker from cleaning to cooking. Doris will long be remembered for her peanut butter fudge that she and Ralph enjoyed giving to others. Doris was an inspiration and a wonderful example to her family and friends. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jim and Judy Curry of Man, step-daughter, Pleasant Hinchman of Hardy, VA, son-in-law, William Weese of Amherstdale, 15 grand-children, 19 great-grand-children, and 1 great-great- grand-son, due to arrive in May of this year. Along with many special nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. The family would like to send special thanks to Teays Valley Assisted Living in Hurricane, WV and to Dignity Assisted Living in Chapmanville, where much love and care was provided for her. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with Rev. Rick Brown, Rev. Tim Shuff, and Rev. Clay Tincher officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the Claypool United Methodist Church also. Pall bearers will be the Nephews of Doris. Online condolences may be sent to www.krantzmcneelyfuneralhome.com Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
