Gerelene “Geraldine” “Geri” “Judd” Grimmett of Greenville, WV Gerelene Grimmett also called Geraldine, Geri, Judd, and Mamaw Bean, 85, of Greenville, departed this life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, leaving peacefully from her earthly home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 14, 1936, at Little Harts Creek, the daughter of the late John and Norma (Staley) Adkins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jess Grimmett, Sr.; one son, Jess “Pudgie” Grimmett, Jr.; one brother, Brady Adkins; two sisters, Minnie Browning and Glenda Adkins. Geraldine was a home maker, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her home and all of her things and could remember every gift she ever received and who gave it to her. Geraldine was devoted to her family and loved spending time with all of them. She was an excellent cook and worked as a cook at Man High School, the Shake-N-Burger, and at the Colonial Room. Geraldine will long be remembered for her chicken and dumplings and her Pineapple Dump Cake. Geraldine was the longest standing member of the Hunt Freewill Baptist Church where she attended faithfully when she was able. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Buddy (Gail) Grimmett and Rocky (Anita) Grimmett; one daughter, Anissa “Tiny” (Eddie) Thompson, all of Greenville, one daughter-in-law, Monica Perry of Lyburn; two brothers, Dewey (Bessie) Adkins of Toney and Silas (Loretta) Adkins of Hamlin; two sisters, Jo Ann Barrett of West Hamlin and Patricia (Junie) Akers of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren, Amanda and Jeremy Bowen, Jessie and Rob Lee, Ashlie and John Workman, Bethany and Aaron Sincell, Justin and Brianna Isaacs, Kaylie Ann Meade, and known as the favorite, Jon and Kelli Grimmett; great-grandchildren, Abbi Lowe, Carter Bowen, Jesslyn Workman, Declan Bartram, Aiden Sincell, Ryker Workman, Justin Cruze Isaacs, and Jackson River Isaacs; her care giver and adopted granddaughter, Whitney Wright; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives, church family, and friends. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle at Hunt with Rev. Donald Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in Adkins-Frye Cemetery at Little Harts Creek. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Hunt Freewill Baptist Tabernacle at Hunt.
