Lula "Lulie" Marie Smoot
of Accoville, WV
Lula "Lulie" Marie Smoot, 100+, of Accoville, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
She was born June 28, 1914, at Accoville, where she was a lifetime member of the Accoville United Methodist Church. She loved her church and the members who were so loving toward her.
Lula was the eldest daughter of the late Joseph and Ida Young Robinson. She cherished her parents.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Smoot; three sisters, Fannie Goodman, Madeline Carter, and Dorothy "Odell" Mitchell; eight brothers, Fred, Lester, Roy, Frank, Hiram, Hubert, Lou, and James Robinson; three sons, Jesse, Otis, and Ronald Smoot who she mourned daily; and one grandson, Greg Atkins.
Lula was a retired cook and worked for several of our local schools in the area. Cooking was her passion, and if you ever came to her home, as so many of us did, you knew you had to eat. How we will miss those famous rolls.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are her children, Anna Koefoed of New Lenox, IL, Joyce Atkins of Amherstdale, Linda (Jimmy) Gilbert of Strongsville, OH, Jean (Bud) Blankenship of Brunswick, OH, Vickie Elkins of North Ridgeville, OH, Richard (Cathy) Smoot of Accoville, and Roger (Marilyn) Smoot of Brunswick, OH; 23 grandchildren, Daniel, Chris, Doug, Sherry, Shawn, Mike, Teresa, Pamela, Judy, Sherry, Robin, Tammy, Kimberly, Robby, Kelly, Steve, Jessica, Chuck, Vanessa, Gary, Ricky, Donnie, and Ronnie; and 140+ great and great-great- grandchildren.
Lula loved and adored her entire family. She has left behind nieces and nephews, special friends and precious memories. We all loved her dearly and she loved us. We will miss her forever. There will never be another "Lulie" Smoot.
A special, heartfelt thanks to Sherry Adkins, her grand-daughter, for the love and care of our mother.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the Accoville United Methodist Church at Accoville with Rev. Norman Harvey and Brother Charlie Branim officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
