Oliver Lee Mullins, Sr.
Of Lorado, WV
Oliver Lee Mullins, Sr., 77, of Lorado, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He Departed this life from his home after a long illness.
Lee was born on April 11, 1936, at Toney Fork of Buffalo Creek, the son of the late Boyd and Ocie Blankenship Mullins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Florence Osborne, Nadine, Laurie, Virginia Lee, and Dorothy Jewell Mullins; four brothers, Sam, Clyde Junior, Earl, and Tommy Mullins; two half-sisters, Madgie Hutchinson and Minnie Cox; and three half-brothers, Kendall Mullins, Willie Mullins, and Van Gibson.
Lee was a retired coal miner formerly employed with Buffalo Mining Company. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1969 until 1971. Lee was a founding member of the Full Gospel Freewill Baptist Tabernacle where he served as a Deacon. For the last four years, Lee attended local area churches. He enjoyed singing and tinkering outside.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years, Betty Lou Mullins; three sons, Todd Goff of Winston-Salem, NC, and Oliver Lee (Melissa) Mullins, Jr. and Edison Lee Mullins, both of Lorado; two daughters, Evelyn (Keith) Chambers of Soddy Daisy, TN and Ocie Mullins of Lorado; two sisters, Jeanie Wood and Katherine Bundick, both of Colville, WA; a special grandson, Danny Ray Williams of Lorado; 4 additional grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Home Sweet Home Cemetery at Pardee.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the church and one hour prior to services also.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
