Betty Jo Vance of Holden Betty Jo Vance, 89, of Holden, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 26, 2021, leaving from Trinity Healthcare of Logan, after a extended illness. She was born on April 22, 1932, the daughter of the late Joseph “Joe” and Hannah Jane (Burgess) Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Helen Viars and Jewell Vance; one great-great-grandson, Oliver Hensley; five sisters, Juanita, Mable, Myrtle, Geneva, and Alda Mae; and four brothers, Lawrence, Marion, Everette, and Zachery Taylor Brown. Betty Jo was a home maker, a wonderful wife, and a loving mother. She was saved and baptized at a young age and faithfully loved the Lord all the rest of her days. She was a member of 21 Holden Memorial Freewill Baptist Church. Betty Jo married the love of her life John T. Vance on April 29, 1948. Shortly after their marriage, John T. was called into the ministry. As a minister’s wife Betty Jo faithfully supported Rev. John T. Vance in his work for the Lord. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 73 years, Rev. John T. Vance of Holden; one son, Tennis R. Vance and his wife Sue of Lake; one daughter, Betty June Meade of Richmond, VA; five grandchildren, John T. Viars and his wife Wanda of FL, Janey Flournoy and her husband Steven of Roanoke, VA, Daniel Vance and his wife Dana of Springfield, OH, Aimie Mosier and her husband Brian and Elisha Meade and his wife LaShell, all of Richmond, VA; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at 21 Holden Memorial Freewill Baptist Church at Holden and one hour prior to services at the church also. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the 21 Holden Memorial Freewill Baptist Church at Holden with Rev. Carl Lilly and Rev. Lacy Cox Jr. officiating. Friends and family may gather one hour prior to services at the church also. She will be lovingly laid to rest in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby after the services.
