Obituary of Arnold Ray Mays

Arnold Ray "Duke" Mays of Lyburn, WV Arnold Ray "Duke" Mays, 66, of Lyburn, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. Duke was born on May 29, 1948, at Lyburn, the son of the late Gilbert and Bessie Walker Mays. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Orville, Donald, and Mack Mays; one sister, Dorothy Mays; and one infant daughter, Corrine Mays. Surviving are five sisters, Alice Gullett, Mary Mays, and Cora Mays, all of Lyburn, Teresa Burgess of Oak Grove, KY, and Karen Vannatter of Charleston; one son, Gilbert Mays; three daughters, Tina Mays, Tandy Noonan, and Tanya Ferguson; the mother of his children, Brenda Mays; nine grandchildren, Sherry, Patrick, Donald, and Sarah Mays, Christopher Miller, Brenda and Kimberly Noonan, and Linda and Bree Ferguson; two great-grandchildren, Justin Ray Lynn Harper and Noah Mays; and two special nieces, Loretta Lynn Vance and Ada Perry, both of Lyburn. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Davy Branch Gospel Tabernacle at Madison Creek with Rev. Billy Addair officiating. Burial will follow in Mullins Cemetery at Lyburn. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church also. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
