Obituary of Rev. Benny Lee Osborne

Rev. Benny Lee Osborne Of Davin, WV Rev. Benny Lee Osborne, 77, of Davin, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 9, 2021, leaving from Pikeville Medical Center at Pikeville, after a short illness. He was born on May 10, 1943, at Toney Fork, the son of the late Oscar and Julie (Peyton) Osborne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings, Rosie Powers, Prather Osborne, Nancy Bailey, Harold Osborne, and Gladys Brown; two children, Susan Copley and Jackie Vance; and two grandchildren, Jacob Sims and Russell Vance. Benny was a coal miner for five years before becoming disabled with arthritis. The Lord called him to preach when he was 18 years old. For the last 59 years Rev. Benny Osborne has worked for the Lord; spreading the Word and praising the Lord whether in good times or bad. Rev. Benny never met a stranger and has talked to everyone he has met about the Lord. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 25 years, Martha Osborne; ten children, Connie (Michael) Mills of Kopperston, Allen (Kim) Osborne and Freman Osborne, both of Bassett, VA, Mary (Henry) Osborne of Davin, Janice Rose of Cyclone, Essie Davis of Davin, Russell Vance of Accoville, Rev. Nathan (Melissa) Vance of Campus, Kelly (Rev. Randy) Lusk of Lorado, and Lisa Vance of Logan; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the God’s Lighthouse Church at Curtis. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at God’s Lighthouse Church with Rev. David Gibson and Rev. Danny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Osborne Cemetery at Lorado. Pall bearers will be family and friends.
