Jewell Jean Toler
Of Amherstdale, WV
Jewell Jean Toler, 76, of Amherstdale, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving from CAMC-Memorial Division in Charleston on December 22, 2020, after a sudden illness.
She was born on February 19, 1944, the twin sister of Jimmy Lee Toler, at Amherstdale, the daughter of the late Rev. Delbert and Mary Gibson Toler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Toler; five step-children she loved and helped raise, Teddy Toler, Mark Toler, Glenna Daniels, Linda Walls, and Garnet Key; two sisters, Shirley Adkins and Bernice Toler.
Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Martin Toler at home; one granddaughter, Kayla Toler of Cyclone; her twin brother, Jimmy Lee Toler and his wife Anita; her oldest brother, Billy Ray Toler and his wife Marie of Franklin, KY; her baby sister, Velena Osborne of Accoville; many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Jewell loved and helped raise several step-children. Six stepsons, Clyde Toler, Ran Toler, Darrell Toler, Ron Toler, Frenchie Lusk, and Dewey Lusk; and step-daughters, Vickie Brown and Tammy Repass; many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren all of whom were very precious to Jewell.
Jewell gave her heart to the Lord in 1965. She started out in Lundale Freewill Baptist Church and went on to several other churches, including Becco United Baptist Churh, Saunders Memorial Baptist Church, Mt. Olive Freewill Baptist Church, Gilman Bottom Freewill Baptist Church, and Toler Baptist Church. Jewell served the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher and a singer. She sang in the gospel group The Pilgrim Quartet with James, Janice, and Mae Lee Bias, and James Duncan.
Jewell possessed great wisdom and often used it to council and advise others. She was very caring and loved others. She cherished her granddaughter Kayla. Jewell enjoyed talking to people and visits from family and friends. Her passion was to talk about Jesus, his coming back, and prophecy.
A wonderful mother, Jewell loved to do things with Martin like eating at Wendy’s and Hardee’s and watching television together especially football and basketball. Her favorite team was the Golden State Warriors. She also enjoyed sitting on the porch and watching people, animals, 4-wheelers, and cars go by.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the Becco United Baptist Church at Amherstdale.
