Obituary of Helen W. Nelson

Helen W. Nelson Of Amherstdale, WV Helen W. Nelson, 91, of Amherstdale, WV went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2020. She departed this life from her son’s home in Grayson, KY. She was born on October 4, 1928, in Rossmore, a daughter of the late Roscoe and Nancy (Damron) Watts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Nelson. Helen was a 1946 graduate of Man High School and a member of the Old Man High Alumni Association, she went on to graduate from Charleston Business College. Helen began work for Guyan Eagle Coal Company, was a bookkeeper for the Bank of Man, and later retiring from Huntington Banks in Man. Helen was a member of Becco United Baptist Church, and attended Buffalo Valley Missionary Baptist after moving in with her son. Helen loved her family, church family, and friends. She loved spending time with her church family worshipping and celebrating the Lord. Helen had a vibrant spirit and a loving personality. Her other activities included the Red Hats, S.T.A.R.T., Garden Club of Man, and traveling. Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Thomas Michael and Mitzi (Chatterton) Nelson of Grayson, KY; brothers, Truman Watts and David Webb of Huntington; sister, Faye and Bob Riley of Foster; her grandchildren who gave her great joy, Ashton, Olivia, and Harrison Nelson and Morgan, Addison (Sloane), Julian, and Ivanna Hall; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Becco United Baptist Church at Becco. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Becco United Baptist Church with Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
