Obituary of Leland R. Blevins

Leland R. “Doodle” Blevins of Amherstdale, WV Leland R. “Doodle” Blevins, 71, of Amherstdale, formerly of Oceana, departed this life on Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Genesis Healthcare Logan Center at Three Mile Curve, after a long illness. He was born August 6, 1948, at Williamson, WV, the son of the late Brady and Mary Jane (Thompson) Marcum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his twin brother, Leonard Ray Blevins. Leland was a 1967 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he spent the next 13 years serving his country. Upon his discharge he became a manager working at the Magic Mart at Oceana, the Hecks at Beckley, and the Honey in the Rock Motel at Beckley. Those left to cherish his memory are one brother, Troy (Paula) Blevins of Accoville; one sister, Peggy (Howard) Epperly of Morgantown; sister-in-law, Louise Blevins of Braeholm; nephews, Brad Blevins, Charlie (Angie) Epperly, Greg (Julie) Blevins, and Rick “Moose” (Amber) Blevins; and niece, Amber (Mickey) Hannibal; along with a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at Palm Memorial Gardens at Matheny with Rev. Michael Pollard officiating. Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to services at the Palm Memorial Gardens also. Pall bearers will be family.
