Roy Edward “Jack” Toler

Of Christian, WV

   Roy Edward “Jack” Toler, 77, of Christian, departed this life on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at CAMC-Memorial Division at Charleston, after a long illness.

   He was born on March 2, 1942, in Logan County, the son of the late Carlos Lee and Pearl Josie Kennedy Toler.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Morgan Toler; one son, Dennis Dale Toler; three brothers, Paul Toler, Bill Toler, and Matthew Toler; two sisters, Mavis Toler McLease and Anna Toler Brown; two half brothers, Edward Toler and Olie Toler; and two half-sisters, Rosie Toler and Ellie Maxie.

   Jack was a disabled coal miner formerly employed with Island Creek Coal Company’s Emmett mines.  He was a member of the UMWA District 17.  Jack had been in church for 50 years, first as a member at Landville Freewill Baptist Church and in his later years attending at Gilman Bottom Freewill Baptist Church and Mallory Hollow Freewill Baptist Church.  When he was able Jack enjoyed digging for Ginseng.  Devoted to his family, Jack was a wonderful provider, hard worker, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. 

   Those left to cherish his memory are one son, Clint Edward Toler of Christian; one granddaughter, Kendra Lea Walker of Bruno; one great-grandchild, Bentley Chase Walker of Bruno; two sisters, Barbara Ellen (Danny) Short of Clear Fork and Ernestine Fayth “Tina” Toler of Mallory; one brother. James Walker Toler of Rock House Hollow in Wyoming County; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. Friday at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church at Landville.

   Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, November 29, 2019, at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Lane officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

   Pall bearers will be family and friends.

   Honorary pall bearer will be Curtis White.
