Of Neibert, WV
Charles D. Hunter, 71, of Neibert, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 19, 2014, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a brief illness.
He was born on September 21, 1943, at Bartley, the son of the late Leroy and Cynthia Virginia Lockhart Hunter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Hunter; one nephew, Robbie Spears; and his parents-in-law, Virgil and Mary Ryan.
Charles was a 1961 graduate of Man High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Viet Nam Conflict. Charles began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier in Logan and retired as a post master at the Gilbert Post Office. He was a proud supporter of the VFW and the Wounded Warrior Programs. A longtime faithful member and Deacon of the Bethlehem Freewill Baptist Church at Rita, Charles served as the church treasurer and sang in the choir. Devoted to his family, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carolyn Ryan Hunter; one daughter, Le'Anne Hunter (Andy) Sigman of Birch River; one son, Charles Ryan Hunter of Neibert; one sister, Delores (Bugs) Spears of Neibert; sister-in-law, Linda Hunter of Neibert; two grandchildren, Hannah and Brooke Sigman, both of Birch River; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Donna Jean Williams and Allen and Judy Ryan; many nieces and nephews who were very special to him; and his best friend, Eddie Merritt of Neibert; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Rev. Gary Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby where military graveside rites will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force, DAV Post 19 of Harts, VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103, both of Chapmanville.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services.
Pall bearers will be Ray Cline, Phillip Duba, Shane Marcum, Kenny Williams, Terry Mullins Jr., and Bo Ryan.
