Romey Lee Plumley
Of Robinette, WV
Romey Lee "Clyde" "Red" Plumley, 85, of Robinette, went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife of 64 years, Pricy Irene Marcum Plumley, leaving from his home, on Saturday, December 13, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 10, 1929, at Sweetland in Lincoln County, a son of the late Alvie and Minnie Adkins Plumley.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and their wives, Jimmy and Jean Plumley and Eugene and Virginia Plumley; one son-in-law, Fred Griffin; and one daughter-in-law, Marian Craddock Plumley.
Romey was a retired mine worker formerly employed with Island Creek Coal Company for 41 years. He was a member of the UMWA local 9986. An avid outdoorsman, Romey loved hunting with his sons and grandsons. He also enjoyed gardening, digging ramps, 4-wheeling, fishing, and piddling in his out building. After retiring in 1990, Romey cared for his wife in their home until her death in 2008.
Those left to cherish his memory are two sons, Eugene (Connie) Plumley of Chapmanville and George (Terri) Plumley of Accoville; three daughters, Marie Griffin of Lorado, Janice (Greg) Vance of Mallory, and Connie (Tom Scott) Adams of Harts Creek; 13 grandchildren, Samantha (John) Burdette, David (Stacie) Plumley, Sandy (Raymond) Berry, Jason Plumley, Krystal (Woody) Trent, Travis Plumley, Paul (Crystal) Griffin, Jill (Jessie "Bud") Trent, Steven (Becky) Plumley, Tracie (David) Vance, Dusty Vance and his girlfriend, Megan, Nicholas (Amber) Mitchem, and Ashley Mitchem; 19 great-grandchildren, Amylynn (Joe) Rose, Joshua Burdette, Nathan and Rebecca Griffin, Brody, Kody, and Carter Griffin, Blake Berry, and Lacie Trent, Jeffrey and Makayla Vance, Hayden and Allie Mitchem, Gary Plumley, Logen and Connor Plumley, Taylor, Evan, and Ian Plumley; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank ARH and Dignity Hospice for their help and support. A special thank you to Sheryl and Lilly Rogers for all their help and love.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the Landville Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. David Campbell and Rev. Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.
Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the church and one hour prior to services at the church also.
Grandsons will serve as pall bearers.
