Joyce Ann Hager Elam Morgan

Of Davin, WV

   Joyce Ann Hager Elam Morgan, 69, departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, August 3, 2019, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital at Roanoke, VA, after a sudden illness.

   She was born on August 20, 1949, at Accoville, the daughter of the late Harry and Mae Lee Hager.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Douglas Morgan II; daughter, Kim Morgan Dillion; step-dad, Roger Burgess; her sister-in-law, Brenda Hager; sons-in-law, Johnny Thomas and Guy Gibson.

   Joyce was a 1967 graduate of Man High School where she was a majorette and played the saxophone in the band.  She was very active in her children’s lives serving as a Girl Scout Leader for many years and as a parent volunteer for the Man High School Band and Miss America Softball teams.  Joyce was very friendly and never met a stranger.  She was totally devoted to her family, spending all of her spare time with them.  Joyce was loved and loved unconditional.

  Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Delana (Kenny) Spence of Shawsville, VA, Malinda Gibson of Man, and Lori Thomas of Springfield; two sons, Kevin Elam of Moorefield and William Douglas Morgan III of Huntington; one brother, Rev. Harry (Gail) Hager of Sugar Grove, VA; 23 grandchildren, Josh Dillion, Jeff Dillion, Jessica (Robert) Maynard, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Dillion, Michelle Khokhlov; John Thomas, Jason Morgan, Tracy Khokhlov, Jacalyn Morgan,  Autumn (Daniel) Faine, Ashton (Cory) Hall, Brianna Thomas, Johnanna Thomas, Taylor Spence, Jayme Morgan, Trey Spence, Decklen Goodman, Jacob Gibson,  Isabella Goodman, Edward Thomas, Annika Elam, Aracoma Richards, and Baby Blair expected to arrive October 30, 2019; 3 great-grandchildren, Robert Maynard, Letty Hall, and Lyla Hall; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.

   A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9, 2019, at the Kistler Freewill Baptist Church at Kistler with Rev. Harry “Buddy” Hager officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

   Pall bearers will be Kenny Spence, Jeff Zelsdorf, Jason Blair, Robert Manyard, Cory Hall, and Daniel Faine.

   After the burial everyone is invited to a pot luck dinner at the church.
