Russell Howard Greene, 88, of Christian, departed this life on Friday, July 26, 2019, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born on November 11, 1930, at Bengal Hollow, the son of the late Ralph and Clara Allen Greene.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Russell Howard “Rusty” Green II and Ralph Augustus “Buzzy” Greene; four siblings, Leonard Greene, Helen Moffat, Virginia Vance, and Thelma Waters.
Russell dedicated his life to the coal industry. He was the owner and operator of Coal X in Christian. An avid golfer, Russell became Manager of the Triadelphia Country Club in his later years.
Those left to cherish his memory are three grandsons, Matthew Greene of Pittsburgh, PA, Russell “Rusty” Greene III of Oceana, and Jamie Montgomery of Gallipolis, OH; five siblings, Grace Lawson of Springfield, OH, Juanita Kocks of Tip City, OH, Shirley McClure of Man, Judy Grimmett Wright of Davin, and Brenda Conley of South Carolina; his companion for several years, Kay Albright; and several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Russell’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 29, 2019, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man with Bishop Anthony Hudgins officiating. Burial will follow in
Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home also.
Pall bearers will be his nephews and friends.
Honorary pall bearers will be Doyle Saunders, Arvil Adkins, Larry Gillispie, Earl Gillispie, Woodrow Gillispie, John Mounts, Emil Tomblin, and Roy Walker.
