Naaman Dunn, Sr.

Of Amherstdale, WV

Naaman Franklin Dunn, Sr.. of Amherstdale, left his earthly home on Sunday, June 16, 2019, after an extended illness.

He was born on July 23, 1933, at Kistler, a son of the late Retta Mae Raabe and Benn Dunn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Oval Dunn, Jack Dunn, and Marksie Dunn; and two sisters, Beatrice Cline and Loretta Edwards.

Naaman was a coal miner who retired after 36 years.  After retiring, he loved to work in his garage fixing up old cars.  Besides being an electrician in the mines, he was a jack of all trades, building homes and businesses, and was frequently called upon by his friends and family to repair anything that moved.  The saying was, “If Naaman can’t fix it, it’s time to buy a new one.”  Naaman also enjoyed bowling for many years and spending time with his family at his camper on the Greenbriar River.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 41 years, Aleata; their son, Naaman (Jennifer) Dunn, Jr.; from a previous marriage son, Franklin Keith Dunn and two daughters, Linda Loretta (Teddy) Kennedy and Brenda Louetta (Kim) Hileman; one brother, Roy (Elva) Dunn; four sisters, DeAnna Bryson, Zydis (Tommy) Browning, Ladean Dunn, and Clairus (Jerry) Dunn; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends that he enjoyed drinking coffee with while rocking on his front porch.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.

Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2019, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home with the Rev. Alfred “Butch” Cobb officiating.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Pall bearers will be family and friends.
