Mrs. Thelma “Jean” Short

of Gilman Bottom, WV

Unexpectedly on the morning of April 15, 2019, Thelma “Jean” Short went home to be with her heavenly father leaving from her residence.

Jean was born on September 27, 1943, at Amherstdale, the daughter of the late Wade and Sarah Grimmett.  She was raised by a special step-mother, Agnes and her father, Wade.

Those in Heaven to welcome Jean home are her father, Wade, mother, Sarah, step-mother, Agnes, loving husband, Johnny; great-grandson, Bentley; and sister, Peggy.

Jean married her childhood sweetheart, James “Johnny” Short on May 4th, 1963, at the Mallory Church of God.  She was a faithful member of the Taplin Freewill Baptist Church.  Jean devoted her life to serving God and being the very best wife, mom, and mamaw.  She loved going to church, sewing for others, sitting on the front porch drinking coffee, going out to eat, and spending time with her family.  Though her family and friends will miss her dearly we know she has gained her final reward in Heaven to meet Jesus and reunite with the love of her life, Johnny.

Those who will miss her dearly until we meet her again are daughter, Tammy (Marion) Damron and son, James “Jim” (Rebecca) Short.  Grandchildren, Amber (Joshua) Morgan, Derek (Vanessa) Damron, Cody Damron and his fiancé, Jessica, Samantha Short and her fiancé, Noah, and Olivia Short. Great-grandchildren, James Morgan, Kaydence Morgan, Kimberlea Morgan, Jacob Morgan, and Brooklyn Damron.  One sister, Deb (John) Thacker.  Her fur baby, Max, and several nieces, nephews, church family and friends.  Jean was blessed with three best friends who held a special place in her heart, Edith Cox, Vickie Wooten, and Penny Turkale.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2019, at Taplin Freewill Baptist Church at Taplin with Brother Sheldon Wells officiating.  She will lovingly be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Johnny at Highland Memory Gardens at Godby.

Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man and one hour prior to services at the church.

Pallbearers will be family, church family, and friends.

Online condolences may be sent to www.krantzmcneelyfuneralhome.com

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home.
