Tyrone Cecil Pollard

of Kistler, WV

Tyrone Cecil Pollard, 66, of Kistler, went from this earthly life into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

He was born February 15, 1953, at Kistler, a son of the late Robert Cecil and Jeanne Turner Pollard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Pollard Jr.

Tyrone was a 1973 graduate of Man High School and was an avid Billies Supporter.  He assisted in coaching youth sports and ladies softball in the Triadelphia Area.  Tyrone was baptized at an early age at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church at Kistler, sang in the choirs and for a time served as Sunday School Superintendent.  He worked for years in the mining industry as a parts truck driver.

Tyrone was well known and loved as the “designated chauffer” for many in the community that needed transportation to doctors appointments, family reunions, sporting events, or any place else “Mr. Have Green Book Will Travel.”  He will long be remembered for his friendliness, sense of humor, and willingness to help anyone in need.

Those left to cherish his memory are four brothers, Carl (Lois) Pollard of Hamden, CT, Rev. Michael (Juanita) Pollard of Kistler, Frederick Neil Pollard and his companion, JoAnn, of Syracuse, NY, and Ronald Leon Pollard of New Haven, CT; one sister, Jacqueline Carole Pollard of Huntington; many cousins, nieces, and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

A Memorial/Homegoing Service will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at the St. James Missionary Baptist Church at Kistler.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. James Missionary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 221, Kistler, WV  25628 in Tyrone’s Memory.
