Betty Lou Dean Vance

Of Davin, WV

   Betty Lou Dean Vance, 82, of Davin, went home to be with our Lord and Savior, leaving this world surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness, on Saturday, January 12, 2019.

   She was born on October 2, 1936, at Gilbert, a daughter of the late Newton Dink and Allie Lee Dean.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Norman Vance; one son, Jeffery Keith Vance; and 18 siblings.

   Betty was a member of the Riverview Freewill Baptist Church at Slab Town and she also attended Davin Baptist Church.  She loved the Lord and His love was reflected in the way Betty loved all who were around her.  In the 1970’s, she was employed with the Logan County School System and in the 1980’s she was employed with Pride, Inc.  Devoted to her family, Betty took great pride in her home and children.

   Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Shelia and Keith Osborne of Cyclone, Norman M. “Pete” “Wooda” and Debra Vance of Lorado and Glad Hill, VA, and Paul and Glenna Vance of Verner; six grandsons, Tony and Stephanie Vance, Randy and Tonya Osborne, Paul and Cathy Vance, Josh and Hannah Vance, Justin and Nikita Vance, and Nick and Courtney Osborne; one grand-daughter, April and Chris Salmons; 22 great-grandchildren, Emily, Cameron, Katie Brook, Chandler, Austin, Carly, Jersey, Cheyenne, Myranda, Bristol, Paul David III, Peyton Brook, London, Xander, Cara, Levi, Dalton, Madalyn, Ashley, Holly, Chris, and Hunter;  three sisters, June and Bill Grant of Smithville, Helen Hendricks of Gilbert, and Rhenda “Baby Sister” Stafford of Georgia; brothers-in-law, Gerry Jones of CA, Alan Patterson of FL, Corrine Bocook of OH, Terry and Linda Vance of Foster, and Harry Eads of CT; sisters-in-law, Anna Ruth and Clarence Vance of Man, Deanna Vance of Davin, Sue and Larry Rollins of Cyclone and Janet Vance of OH; Betty’s very best friend, Pauline Lester; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

   A Celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Claypool with Rev. Mike Browning, Rev. Johnny Hatfield, and Brother Paul Vance.  She will lovingly be laid to rest beside her husband, Rev. Norman Vance, in Hollywood Cemetery at Gilbert.

   Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Claypool United Methodist Church and one hour prior to services also.

   Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
