Robert Edward “Rob” Adkins

Of Amherstdale, WV

Robert Edward “Rob” Adkins, 72, of Amherstdale, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 13, 2018, leaving from his earthly home, after an extended illness.

He was born on September 26, 1945, at Stowe, a son of the late Jessie Kessler Adkins and Wanda Marie Smith Adkins Lowe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, John Kessler Adkins and Dawn Bonnette Adkins Edwards; three brothers, Kessler Lee Adkins, Chris Lowe, and James Edward Lowe; five sisters, Shirley Jean Adkins, Carolyn Annette Adkins, Deanna Sue Adkins, Ginger Elaine Lowe, and Judith Ann Lowe Mitchell; his grandparents, William Franklin and Hannah Amma Burton Smith; and one nephew, James Edward Lowe II.

Rob was a 1965 graduate of Man High School where he ran track and played football and basketball.  After graduation, he joined the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Airman First Class.  Returning to Logan County, Rob began his career as a coal miner finally retiring in 1993.  He was of the Pentecostal faith and was an ordained minister.  Rob enjoyed collecting old money, hunting, fishing, camping, gardening, and going to church.  He was an all around handy man who liked to do his own work.  Rob was always willing to help others but didn’t like to ask for help for himself so he learned to fix most everything.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018, at Crown Pentecostal Church at Crown with Rev. Randy Harvey and Rev. Randall Farley officiating.  Military honors will be conducted by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard and the Wyoming County Honor Guard.
