Elizabeth Walls, 103, of Bruno, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 14, 2016, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness.
She was born February 13, 1913, at Harts Creek in Lincoln County, a daughter of the late Milton and Rosie Bell Mullins Vance.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Elmer Walls who passed away on December 14, 2006; two daughters, Sharlene Walls and Ruby Dean; six sisters, Parsia Adkins, Pearlie Fugate, Hattie Watts, Iva Powers, Edith Fugate, and Mary Altizer; four brothers, Joe, Robert, Cush, and Johnny Vance; and one granddaughter, Keelena Walls.
Elizabeth and her husband, Elmer, were united in marriage on November 8, 1937. Their union produced a loving family that surrounded them throughout their lives. A home maker, Elizabeth took great pride in being a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Smith Mountain Lake and the Amish country, and shopping. Elizabeth loved to cook and was cooking a pot of beans with potatoes and ham hocks at the home of her special niece and nephew, Denise and Kelly Vance, on the Tuesday, May 10, 2016, of her final stroke. A woman of great faith in God, she was a member of Sandlick Freewill Baptist Church where she participated in the Ladies Aide for many years.
Those left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy are three sons, Roger (Linda) Walls, Sr., Donald Gene (Tammy) Walls, both of Bruno, and Donald Garon "Bo" (Jamie) Walls of Lundale; one daughter, Angela (Rob) Wilson of Wayne; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren along with a host of other relatives and friends.
