Robert Earl "Bobby" Nelson
of Claypool, WV
Robert Earl "Bobby" Nelson, 65, of Claypool, departed this life on Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Logan Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He was born on September 29, 1950, at Logan, a son of Virginia Scites Nelson of Man and the late Byrd Nelson, Jr.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Lee Nelson.
Bobby was a 1969 graduate of Man High School. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Returning to Logan County, he was employed as a coal miner and was a member of the UMWA. Bobby became disabled in 1980 due to injuries he sustained in an automobile accident. Although greatly disabled, Bobby never gave up and continued to visit others, hunt, and fish. His determination to live as normal a life as possible was an inspiration to all who knew him.
