Darrell Lee Pierson
of Wilson Mills, NC
Darrell Lee Pierson, 33, of Wilson Mills, NC, formerly of Lorado, WV, departed this life, November 17, 2015 at Rex UNC Hospital of Raleigh following an extended illness.
He was born September 10, 1982, at Man, WV, a son of Lyndon (Sherri) Pierson of Micro, NC and Teresa Adkins Pierson of Wilson Mills, NC.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Arnold J. Hatfield; two grandfathers, Elmer Adkins and Harvey Pierson; and one uncle, Paul Pierson.
Darrell graduated from SSS High School class of 2000 and was a master technician who graduated with honors from Nashville Auto Diesel College. He was a small engine specialist certified by Briggs and Stratton. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and flying kites. Darrell enjoyed 1960's country music, especially Hank Williams and Merle Haggard.
Those left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents are one brother, Brian Pierson of Micro, NC; special friend, Robert Price of Micro, NC; two grandmothers, Barbara Adkins of Lundale and Edna Ruth Osborne Pierson of Accoville; uncle and aunts Jimmy "Cranco" Adkins of Lundale, Michael Adkins, of IL, Cathy (Paul) Vance of Lundale, Harvey (Alice) Pierson of Accoville, Linda Pierson of Lundale, Freddy (Tammy) Pierson of Charleston, Diana (James "Red") Morris of Breaholm, and Drema (George) Baldridge of Accoville; cousins, Joshua Adkins, Nick Adkins, Drew Adkins, Ashley (Johnny) and their children Johnny Lee and Adalyn Farley, Holly (Mikey) Vitruls, Levi Rakes, Paul David Vance, III, Ava and Noah Baldridge, Beth Pierson, Josh (Laura) Pierson, Amy Ferrell, Kristy Grimmett, Erica Ellis, Christian and Megan Pierson, Mary Thomas, Freddy Pierson, Jr., Derek Pierson, and Jodie Pierson; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2015, at the Lundale Freewill Baptist Church at Lundale with Pastor Bobby Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens at Godby, WV.
Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services Wednesday.
Pall bearers will be Brian Pierson, Paul Vance, Robert Price, Nick Adkins, Drew Adkins, and Josh Adkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be, Mike Adkins, Jimmy "Cranco" Adkins, John Mosley, Josh Pierson, and Owen Henderson.
