Obituary of Jerry L. Browning

JERRY L. BROWNING, 84, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, formerly of Man, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2019, after a brief illness. He was born September 7, 1935, at Earling, West Virginia, the son of the late Benjamin and Elva Bowles Browning. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret C. Pridemore Browning; four brothers, Carl, Fred, Bobby and Edwin Browning; and three sisters, Ralene Parks, Herma Burress, and Ruby (Midge) Brooks. Jerry was retired from the United States Marine Corps. He served three tours in the Vietnam War where he was combat wounded. He was also a coal miner, retiring from Amherst Coal Company #8 Mines. Jerry enjoyed his grandchildren, cooking for his family and for church dinners, and raising a garden. He never met a stranger and couldn’t pass a baby without stopping to talk and play. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jerry Lee (Joyce) Browning II, of Painesville, OH; his daughter, Kim (Michael) Andrews, of Ewa Beach, HI; his honorary daughter, Naomi (Chris) Riggsby, of Ashland, Kentucky; and his grandchildren, Jessica (Nick) Lewis, of Madison, OH, and Emily Andrews and Jeremy Andrews, both of Ewa Beach, HI; three brothers, Glenn (Barbara) Browning, of Brookville, OH, Don (Janice) Browning, of Dayton, OH, and George (Doris) Browning, of Davin, WV; one sister, Irene (Don) Welch, of Monroe, NC; and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends. Calling hours will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 6, 2020, at the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home Chapel at Man, WV with Jerry’s nephew, Rev. Terry Browning, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Memory Gardens at Hamlin, WV. Pall bearers will be Ted Browning, Arnold Ray Pridemore, Kenny Williams, Chris Riggsby, Nick Lewis, and Michael Andrews. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Krantz-McNeely Funeral Home at Man.
