Obituary of Ruth Ann Vance Tomblin

Ruth Ann Vance Tomblin

Of Man, WV

   Ruth Ann Vance Tomblin, age 72, of Man, went to her heavenly home on Monday, September 30, 2019, after a short illness.

   She was born on November 18, 1946, in Man, the daughter of the late Roy and Virginia Vance.

   Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Larry Vance and Charlie Vance; one sister, Debra Vance Rowe; one nephew, Jeffrey Hurst; and one great-niece, Olivia McCormick.

   Ruth was a faithful member of the Claypool United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and was a former president of the ladies aide.

   A selfless woman, Ruth took great pride in making sure that everyone and everything was taken care of.  She showed great compassion towards all people by always lending a helping hand as well as making everyone feel welcome and comfortable.  She was loved immensely by all who knew her.

   Ruth was an avid sports fan.  She loved watching Washington Redskins football as well as Atlanta Braves baseball.  Ruth’s hobbies included reading books and spending time with her family.  In addition to her hobbies, she enjoyed spending time in her weekly prayer group with some of her dearest friends.

   Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 54 years, Emil Tomblin of Man; one sister, Alice (Roy) Hurst of Shady Springs; three children, Vickie (Jim) Minor of Davin, Angela (Billy) Dickerson of Davin, and Gregory (Tammy) Tomblin of Whites’s Addition.  Ruth was blessed with wonderful grandchildren who loved her tremendously, Jaclyn (Wes) Harvey, Elizabeth Dickerson and her fiancé Brandon Bradford, Mackenzie Baisden, Devin Tomblin, Kyle Saunders, Calvin Tomblin and his girlfriend Katlyn Dillon, Jeremy Minor, Jessica (Matthew) Thomas, and Jill Minor; three great-grandchildren, Berklee Harvey who brought great joy to Ruth in the ten months they got to spend together, Reaghan Thomas, and Owen Thomas; and two special ladies who were very dear to her heart, Linda Tomblin and Gwen Vance; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

   A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 5, 2019, at Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with Rev. P.J. Tomblin and Rev. Tim Shuff officiating. 

   Friends may gather with the family one hour prior to services.

   In honor of Ruth’s request, her remains have been cremated.
