Shirley Adkins Osborne

Of Lundale, WV

   Shirley Maxine Adkins Osborne, 82, of Lundale, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 26, 2019, leaving from Logan Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

   She was born on July 20, 1937, at Three Forks, the daughter of the late Sampson and Rosie Simpkins Adkins.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Beatrice Hayes; and two brothers, French Edward Adkins and Uhel Adkins.

   Shirley was a 1955 graduate of Man High School.  She worked for Goodman’s Supermarket and in different positions at the old Lorado Coal Mining Company until the fall of 1959.  Shirley married Dewey F. Osborne on November 8, 1958 and as her children entered the world she became a stay at home mom and home maker.  Shirley nurtured and cared for the children of her family and friends for many years.  She was the co-owner and co-operator of Classic Trophy where she enjoyed great satisfaction in seeing the children receive their trophies.  Shirley was very active in her church serving as a Sunday school teacher for many years and holding various other positions.  A devout Christian, Shirley was always willing to help anyone and serve the Lord in any way she could.  Devoted to her family, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

   Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 61 years, Dewey F. Osborne; one son, Kenneth Allen (Pamela) Osborne of Princeton; one daughter, Melissa Diane Osborne of Charleston; one granddaughter, Courtney Pauley of Fayetteville, NC; one great-grandson, Jason Pauley; three siblings, Shelva (Hayward) Payne of Madison, Larry (Leslie) Adkins of NJ, and Gary (Susan) Adkins of Huntington, and many nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   Visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Kistler Free Will Baptist Church at Kistler and one hour prior to services at the church also.

   Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Kistler Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Roland Cook and Rev. P.J. Tomblin officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill.

   Pall bearers will be family and friends.
