   Hazel Woods Shivel, 76, of Davin, gained her wings on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at CAMC-Memorial Division at Charleston, after a long illness.

   She was born on August 8, 1942, at Man, the daughter of the late Kit Carson and Bertha Aline Harback Jones.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence “Doody” Woods; one grandchild, Larry Blaine Cook; and brothers and sisters, James Jones, Kyle “Chubby” Jones, Arthur “Bucky” Jones, Lela Ingram, Katherine “Kitty” Thompson, and Mardale “Midge” Hollingsworth.

   Hazel was a devoted Christian and member of Claypool United Methodist Church.  She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years.  Twenty of which were at Man Appalachian Regional Hospital.  She was dedicated to her family and loved to travel.  The greatest joys of her current life were her great-grandchildren.

   Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tammera “Tammy” (Tim) Green of Brenton and Jeffrey Woods of Davin; her sister and brother, Ruth Stone of Danville and Frederick “Freddy” (Luba) Jones of Buena, NJ; grandchildren, Lawrence “Doody” (Amber) Cook of Oceana, Michael (Tabitha) Cook of Pineville, Jason Cook of Lisbon, OH, Jordan “Abbie” (Anthony) Wallace of Davin, Noah (Ashley) Green of Owings, MD, and Jeremy (Christy) Green of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Lawrece Cook, Blake Cook, Michaela Cook, Zoe Cook, Daxton Wallace, Carter Green, Landon Green, Zachary Green, and Alaina Green; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, her church family, and two special cousins, Marilyn Cook and Iris Shanklin; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

   A Celebration of Hazel’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2019, at the Claypool United Methodist Church at Davin with Rev. Tim Shuff officiating.  Burial will follow at Claypool Cemetery at Davin.

   Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church also.

   Pall bearers will be Lawrence “Doody” Cook, Michael Cook, Noah Green, Blake Cook, Anthony Wallace, and Tim Green.

   Honorary pall bearers will be Posey Perry and John E. Staten.

   In lieu of flowers donations of sympathy may be sent to The Children’s Foundation For Neurodegenerative Disorders, 4401 Penn Ave., Plaza Bldg. Floor 4, Pittsburgh, PA  15224 according to Hazel’s wishes.
